About

Sutherland’s roots date back to 1902, when Frank L. Sutherland formed the original Sutherland Leather & Felt Company. The company began by supplying leather and felt products to the horse and buggy industry. In the early 1900’s Sutherland worked with Detroit based automotive manufacturers and suppliers, making leather belts, gaskets, and washers.

Evolving with their customer’s needs, Sutherland added sewing to its list of amenities. Manufacturing machine bellows, saddles and felt storage bins. The list of products grew quickly as Sutherland’s reputation of quality sewing spread.

In 2014, Sutherland expanded its Sewing Department by acquiring Fiber Trim Sewing Company who came with its own wealth of knowledge and expertise being an established sewing contractor for over 30 years.

Tripling the size of the sewing department as well as adding cutting edge technology, Sutherland Sewing is quickly becoming a premier sewing supplier in North America.
